Remember the sign language interpreter from Nelson Mandela‘s funeral who wasn’t really using actual sign language? The one who said he hallucinated as he was up there, mere feet away from President Obama and other world leaders? Well, he’s back in an incredibly bizarre ad for a social livestreaming app poking fun at his appearance. He actually starts out the ad by saying, “Hi! I’m Thamsanqa Jantjie from Nelson Mandela’s funeral.” And it just gets weirder from there. Jantjie is promoting LiveLens, an app that allows you to broadcast live video to your friends and followers, and the ad partly focuses on the infamous moment at the Mandela funeral, with Jantjie saying he’s “really sorry for what happened.” But it’s the visuals that really make the ad strange, including scenes of Jantjie’s face superimposed on the face of the Old Spice guy in the “I’m on a horse” ad and Jantjie getting his head knocked off his head and blood spurting from his body. And for the cherry on top, LiveLens CEO Max Bluvband told NBC News, “We decided that the guy who had the worst live show ever would be the best person.”
